  Blue Mountains:  Field Springs
Day hike. Gain Small.
Field Spring State Park is set on the lee of the Blue Mountains and is an awesome place to see many different flowers in Washington. The trails cover meadows, forest and wetlands.
Directions: Take 129 south of Clarkston and it leads up to the State park. Camping is allowed. Late May to Mid June.
   
         
  Wenaha Tucannon Wilderness:  Diamond Peak
Backpack 3-5 day.
When the Cascades are so full of snow and you are dying to be in wildflower meadows, then think of here. Miles of different lupines and Clarkia in a rich mellow country. Hike to the Lookout and Visit with Olympia Natives who man the site and are part of South Sound Native Plant Society.
Directions: Drive US 12 to Pomeroy. Take Mountain Road FR 40 Many miles up into the Blues. Go to a pass and turn right onto FR 4030 to Diamond Peak. Park at the road end. Flat hike for the most part. Mid July on Wet Cascade Years.
