Grants and Research

In 2003 the Washington State Legislature established the Natural Science, Wildlife and Environmental Education (EE Partnership) Grant Program in 2003 under ESHB 1466. The Request for Proposal (RFP) for this grant program is now available and can be accessed by the link below.

The program was created to promote "proven and innovative natural science, wildlife and environmental education programs that are fully aligned with the state's essential academic learning requirements (EALRs), and includes but is not limited to instruction about renewable resources, responsible use of resources and conservation." Source: ESHB 1466, Washington State Legislature, 2003

Please note that only official non-profit organizations (Federal Internal Revenue Service Section 501(c)) can apply for these grants and must be partnered with a public school in Washington State. Grants will be awarded in the amount of $15,000-$35,000.

The Natural Science, Wildlife and Environmental Education Grant Program can be accessed in the iGrants Competitive Grants News section. This grant is a downloadable form package. Recipients of these funds will be asked to enter the iGrants system, for budget creation at a later date. The due date for this grant is June 21, 2005.

The profile page and downloadable files can be accessed in the Competitive Grant News section at: http://igrants.ospi.k12.wa.us/docs/04-05/Connections/formpackages.html

Native Plant Education Projects

WNPS has some funds set aside for small projects taken on by WNPS members that educate the public about native plants. In the past we have funded a number of public school native plant gardens and accompanying education programs, brochures and exhibits about native plants, and signs about native plants for natural areas. The grant application can be found on the WNPS website (www.wnps.org) or you can get a copy from the committee chair. Grants are given out twice a year. Proposal deadlines are May 15 and November 15 each year. For more information, contact Fayla Schwartz, Education Committee Chair; fschwart@evcc.ctc.edu or 425.388.9451.
